Dr. Stephen Slade

Stephen Slade verfügt über den größten Erfahrungsschatz in Sachen IntraLase LASIK in den Vereinigten Staaten und war dort der erste Chirurg, der eine Linse für Presbyopie (altersbedingter Verlust der Nahsicht) eingesetzt hat. Er ist sowohl international als auch in Houston ein führender Chirurg in Sachen LASIK und ist Mitglied des International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) von Optical Express.

Er ist aktiver Ausbilder chirurgischer Verfahrensweisen und hat über 8 000 Chirurgen in LASIK und in lamellarer refraktiver Chirurgie unterrichtet und amtlich beglaubigt. Slades Erfahrung mit lamellarer refraktiver Chirurgie begann im Jahr 1980 mit Epikeratophakie, gefolgt von myoper Keratomileusis im Jahre 1983.

Slade wurde in Texas geboren, besuchte die Tulane University und die University of Texas Medical School und verbrachte das letzte Studienjahr am Guy's Hospital in London, wo er sein Studium mit ausgezeichneten Leistungen und der Auszeichnung Summa cum laude abschloss. Slade war führender Forscher sowohl auf dem Gebiet der Crystalens als auch der einsetzbaren Kontaktlinse und lieferte Daten an die FDA für deren Zulassung durch den Ausschuss, und als Teil der Studie implantierte er die erste intraokulare Linse für Presbyopie in Nordamerika.

Im Jahre 2006 wählten die American Academy of Ophthalmology und die International Society of Refractive Surgery Slade für den Barraquer Award 2007, die höchste Auszeichnung in der refraktiven Chirurgie. Seine Mitarbeiter haben ihn zur Aufnahme in die Listen "Top Fifty Opinion Leaders", "Top Texas Doctors", "Best Doctors" und "Best Doctors in America" gewählt. Er erhielt ebenfalls die Ehrenauszeichnung der American Academy of Ophthalmology und ist regelmäßig Moderator bei medizinischen Konferenzen, wo er mehrere Auszeichnungen als "Bester Redner" erhielt und zweimal den ersten Preis beim American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Film Festival gewann.
